Frequently Asked Questions
What should I wear to Yoga, Breath & Meditation, &/or Tribal Belly Dance Classes?
Comfortable exercise clothing & bare feet. Please wear clothing that you can move in & not be too revealing in Yoga postures. For Tribal Belly Dance, please note that skirts may pose difficulties during the stretching exercises so you may want to wear Yoga pants underneath.
What should I bring to class?
Your own Yoga mat for both Yoga & Tribal Belly Dance. You may want a water bottle as well.
Can I eat right before class?
It is recommended to have an empty stomach for classes. A good guideline is to not eat at least 2-hours before class.
What if I've never taken Yoga, Breath & Meditation, &/or Tribal Belly Dance classes before?
No prior experience is needed to take our classes! Just begin where you are. We provide a safe, nonjudgmental environment for students of any level to work at their own pace towards their goals. More flexibility & muscle memory will come with time & practice.
Can I practice Yoga, Breath & Meditation, &/or Tribal Belly Dance classes during pregnancy?
Definitely!! Just be sure that you have the ok from your doctor before beginning. Our expectant Mamas find great benefit in attending all types of classes. Please be sure to let the instructor know so modifications can be offered for some postures or movements that may be contraindicated during pregnancy.
Will Yoga, Breath & Meditation, &/or Tribal Belly Dance classes help me lose weight?
Regular practice can aid in weight loss just like any other exercise. Yoga poses & Tribal Belly Dance movements develop muscle, which increases metabolism & tones the body from head to toe. The more subtle benefits are that both practices will help you tune into your body & its needs. Over time, you will become more familiar with which foods & portion sizes are appropriate for you - leading to a healthier relationship with food.
Is Yoga a religion?
NO!! Yoga is an ancient life science. It does have similarities in its philosophy to many of the world's great religions & was influenced by those as it developed. If you do practice a religion, Yoga can help deepen your experience of it.
