Frequently Asked Questions

Most questions can be answered by reviewing our Class Guidelines or Class Descriptions pages under the Class Tab. However, we’ve included a few other common questions we often are asked below.

What should I wear to Classes, Special Events, or Appointments?

Comfortable exercise clothing that you can move in.  Socks must be worn at all times in the studio for safety & hygiene.

  • Grip socks are highly recommended for Barre & Yoga classes to prevent your feet from sliding. Grip socks are available for purchase at the studio.

  • Regular socks should be worn for Tribal Belly Dance classes & all other events & appointments.

For Tribal Belly Dance, please note that skirts may pose difficulties during the stretching exercises so you may want to wear Yoga pants underneath.

What should I bring to class?

Each of our class descriptions provides more precise information, but a good rule of thumb is to always wear socks and bring your own Yoga mat to all classes & events.  A water bottle is also highly recommended as well.

Can I eat right before class?

It is recommended to have an empty stomach for classes.  A good guideline is to not eat at least 2-hours before class.

What if I've never taken Yoga, Breath & Meditation, Barre, &/or Tribal Belly Dance classes before?

No prior experience is needed to take our classes - just begin where you are.  We provide a safe, nonjudgmental environment for students of any level to work at their own pace towards their goals.  More flexibility & muscle memory will come with time & practice, but each of our class descriptions provides more precise information on what to expect.

Can I practice Yoga, Breath & Meditation, Barre, &/or Tribal Belly Dance classes during pregnancy?

Definitely!!  Just be sure that you have the ok from your doctor before beginning.  Our expectant Mamas find great benefit in attending all types of classes.  Please be sure to let the instructor know so modifications can be offered for some postures or movements that may be contraindicated during pregnancy.

Will Yoga, Breath & Meditation, Barre, &/or Tribal Belly Dance classes help me lose weight?

Regular practice can aid in weight loss just like any other exercise.  Yoga poses, Barre fitness workouts, & Tribal Belly Dance movements all develop muscle, which increases metabolism & strengthens the body from head to toe.  The more subtle benefits are that both practices will help you tune into your body & its needs.  Over time, you will become more familiar with which foods & portion sizes are appropriate for you - leading to a healthier relationship with food.

Is Yoga a religion?

NO!!  Yoga is an ancient life science.  It does have similarities in its philosophy to many of the world's great religions & was influenced by those as it developed.  If you do practice a religion, Yoga can help deepen your experience of it.
